Teamwork and Study Groups
Forming study groups is a wonderful way to maximise your efficiency, gain support and develop a deep understanding of your subjects. Study groups allow students to not only share and develop their own ideas, but also to gain insights from other students. They are also a great way to motivate each other, combat procrastination and gain a stronger understanding of the subject matter. Study groups are also beneficial because they help students to develop teamwork and problem-solving skills, which are highly valued in workplaces and other professional settings. Finally, studying with others can make challenging subjects fun.
Forming an effective study group involves finding members who have similar levels of motivation and skill. It is generally recommended that teams are made up of 3–5 members who each arrive at the session prepared and consistently contribute. Meetings should be held regularly and in an environment that is free from distractions, such as a school library. The most important thing to remember when working in a team is to be open to other people’s ideas and opinions.
